Over the last decade, hotshot costume drama producer Zhang Jizhong has
brought many of Jin Yong's classic martial arts novels to the small
screen, including the Huang Xiaoming-starring Royal Tramp and
Return of the Condor Heroes and the Li Yapeng-starring Legend of
the Condor Heroes and The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. In 2009 he
offers a hit new adaptation of Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre
(a.k.a. Yi Tian Tu Long Ji). Deng Chao (Assembly) stars as
the hero of the story Zhang Wuji, a pure-hearted swordsman who gets
inexorably pulled into the disputes of the previous generation. He also
caught between two women - Ady An (as Zhau Min) and Liu Jing (as Zhou
Zhiruo) - who straddle the lines of good and evil.
Ten years ago, a heroic couple was kidnapped to a remote island to look for the Dragon Sabre. Returning to the mainland with their son Wuji, they become the target of all the swordsmen who want to know the whereabouts of the legendary weapon and its notorious owner. The couple commits suicide to uphold their honor, leaving Wuji an orphan to adventure in the martial arts world alone... |
